I am currently on a river cruise that stopped in Viviers, on the Rhône River in Southern France. We visited a woman who opened her house in this charming French riverside village. The house hid Jews and resistant fighters during the war. She was a tour guide for many years. She told us that in training to be a tour guide, she was told never to discuss the war, the occupation, the resistance, etc.. People never spoke about it and when they did, everybody worked for the resistance. She says that even now, she does not publicize what she does.
